Samar Halarnkar is a writer and journalist. He writes a column on creative cooking from a male perspective, aside from other columns on poverty and conflict in emerging India and on cutting-edge research in science. A journalist for 23 years, he was previously managing editor of the Hindustan Times, based in New Delhi, where he also experimented with a catering business from home. Last year, he was a visiting professor at the University of California-Berkeley. He now lives in Bangalore, spending most of his time bringing up his toddler. His second book, “A Married Man’s Guide to Creative Cooking—and Other Dubious Adventures”, is due out in March.
